Today I am 5

Note to readers: OK, I am all caught up, if not ten days behind. This is catch-up post three of three.

Happy Birthday to me!

At 5:28 pm today I will officially be 5. And to celebrate, I am going to the Charlie Brown Christmas ICE exhibit today with my family. What a fantastic fifth year I have had. And, a terrific last month! I wrapped up my second baseball season a few weeks ago. The last game was awesome! I got two hits off the pitcher! Very exciting. I also went to a couple of Allen American hockey games and a Texas Tornado hockey game this month. We celebrated my Grandma’s birthday with a party at cousin Abbie and Emily’s house. The only thing I love more than a party is being with Grandma and my cousins!

family 2010 aWe took a big trip to the big city this month! That’s right … NYC! Daddy had work the first few days so me, Cara and mom hung out around the city. We rode the subway, which you may not know, but that is definitely one of my favorite things to do. We went to Central Park, FAO Schwartz, the NY Public Library, Mets clubhouse store, rode the ferris wheel at Toys R Us in Times Square and went to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. It was lots of fun. Our hotel overlooked Madison Square Garden where the NY Rangers play hockey – I liked being so close to a hockey arena! We then drove to Long Island to visit our cousins – the Prices. I adore my cousin Owen. We played and had a great time together. On Wednesday, it was time to say good bye to the city and head upstate to visit our family. It was so fun seeing Meema and Papa and all my cousins. Everyone gathered for a big family Thanksgiving. It was also great to see my North Carolina cousins – Colin and Tyler. They are 14 and love to play football too. They were fun to hang out with. We also got to eat at several of our favorite places (mom calls it souvenir eating) and every morning Daddy went and got coffee at the Dunkin Donuts! We also went to see the world’s largest kaleidoscope and visited our favorite chocolate shop (mmmm, chocolate!). There were quite a few great pictures and memories.

santa 2010Cara (25 months) is doing great. She continues to talk and will say anything that I say (Mommy says that she needs to watch herself)! I am really into Charlie Brown and the words “good grief” are uttered frequently by both me and my sister! Cara is learning her colors and her numbers. We went and saw Santa together last week. It didn’t go so well for her. She screamed like crazy. I told Santa what I wanted: a Nintendo DS and a sit up machine (for my exercise). Cara didn’t tell Santa anything, she just screamed. See the picture. Funny, this looks just like last year’s picture.

We also took some family photos last month. I included a couple of them for you to see.

family 2010 cChristmas is coming fast. I always love this time of the year. We have several fun things planned – gingerbread houses with my friends, pottery painting and cookie decorating. I am again in the Christmas pageant at church and will be an angel this year.

We are very much looking forward to my fifth birthday party this weekend. It is a hockey party and it is going to be at the Frontiers of Flight museum by Love Field in Dallas.

My mom put together a movie of pictures of me from the last five years – enjoy!

Until next year – I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
love, Sean

Today I am 59-months old

Note to readers: This is catch-up post two of three. So sorry.

That’s right. One month away from the big 5!

election nightIt has been an exciting past month. My Daddy’s campaign came to a close. He didn’t win, but did receive nearly 26,000 votes (16%). I didn’t know he knew so many people. Thank you to everyone who supported our family during this time. Interestingly, election day landed on Daddy’s birthday this year, which was just an excuse for Mommy to throw a party! Here is a link to a bunch of pictures from the party.

Speaking of birthdays, Mommy celebrated hers too last week. We went to a hockey game! It was a ton of fun. Of course we had another special birthday in the last month, that’s right, my sister Cara turned 2! Mommy kept asking her how old she was going to turn and Cara kept saying “4!” She sometimes acts 4! Cara had a music-themed party and we had a music teacher come and do songs and activities with us. It was lots of fun as you can see from the pictures.

Halloween was this last month as well! (WOW, no wonder Mommy is looking tired … ). Cara and I were “Charlie & Sally Brown”. Mommy made our costumes. Most fun of all was the big Halloween party at my cousin’s house! I love spending time with my family. Grandma and Grandpap dressed up again as Marge and Homer Simpson. They looked great! I liked Trick-or-Treating this year a lot. I am wondering where that big bag of candy has gone to! Cara really was into it as well. She didn’t understand quite at first, but then quickly got the hang of ringing doorbells. We also went to a pumpkin patch and carved our pumpkins. Mommy was a picnic table, very clever that Mommy of mine.

halloween 2010Other monthly highlights include a three-day excursion to Camp Grandma! Mommy and Daddy were out of town for work. We had lots of fun, as always. Also, the Texas Rangers made it all the way to the World Series! It was so fun watching the games and cheering them on. They didn’t win, but they sure played hard. I have been playing a lot of baseball. My team, the RoughRiders, has done really well this year and I have improved a lot. I have hit a few pitches from the coach and made some good plays in the outfield. I still love baseball, but am really looking forward to hockey season! Grandma and Grandpap went to Pittsburgh this month and brought me back a Penguins jersey (I am told it is technically called a sweater). I love it! I plan to wear it for my 5th birthday party, which is a hockey-themed party. I still enjoy school and am beginning to recognize words. Our church’s Christmas pageant has started rehearsals already and I am enjoying be a part of that again.

kless family - cara 2 (1)We are headed north to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Kless side of the family this year. I am excited about the trip!

Until next month,

xoxo, Sean

Today I am 58-months old

Note to readers: I am a bad Dad. OK, I said it. Sorry for the delay in getting these posted. Please note the original author (Christine, world’s best Mom, was on time.)

Alas, another month has passed us by and the weather has cooled down here in Texas. We have been enjoying 80 degree days, which is good for playing outside! Not only do we get to play outside more, but we have been going to play at the park, which Cara and I like a lot.

sean at batAll of my fall activities have been going well. I love pre-school. My pre-school teacher is Miss Rita and we talk a lot about baseball. Her son plays baseball and is the catcher! I got to be the catcher at one of my games this last month. I did pretty well with it. I am enjoying baseball and making new friends on my team. I am one of the youngest players, but have held my own. This weekend we have a game today and one tomorrow! We play for an hour and 20 minutes. The first few games were pretty rough because it was so darn hot out. Now, it is a lot nicer out. “Church” school is going well. Mommy has helped out in my class once, which was kind of fun. I got my flu mist already, so I am good to go.

elect kless pbfDaddy’s campaign has kept him hopping this last month as well. He has attended a lot of events – sign waves, rallies and the Plano Balloon Festival where he was for a whole weekend. We went to see him and hopefully watch the balloons launch, unfortunately, a really bad storm came in and we had to take cover in the car, so no balloon launch. Also this month, the incumbent (that’s a long word for a 58-month old!) debated Daddy at a candidate forum. My daddy did great! Well, that’s what they tell me. I was home with a babysitter. If you are interested in watching video, please do so.

Also, Grandma and Grandpap hosted two events at their home where Daddy met with and talked to constituents (another SAT word I am learning!). Cara and I were the official greeters and were in charge of handing out literature to everyone. He has another candidate forum today. Follow along our family’s journey at www.electkless.com.

state fair - on topEvery time we drive by downtown Dallas I have seen this giant Ferris wheel – called the Star of Texas – at the State fair grounds. Well, finally, it is State Fair time! I have wanted to ride that wheel, much to Grandma’s chagrin (she doesn’t care for heights). Yesterday, just me and Mommy went to the fair together! We rode that 212 foot Ferris wheel and I loved it! I also rode a few other rides, we visited a children’s farm, watched a dog show, got to see the Cotton Bowl (another highlight for me), said howdy to Big Tex, strolled through the car pavilion (I liked sitting in all the cars that looked fast!) and listened to a band my Mommy used to follow (can you believe she was that cool once?!). All in all, a really good day!

cara - 2 bMy sister Cara will be 2 in just two weeks! Oh my goodness! Where does that time go? She is having a music birthday party, which I know she will love. She has enjoyed her Kindermusik class that Grandma takes her to and I bet all of her little Gymboree friends will be there. The pictures of Cara are from her formal two-year portrait sitting. Cara keeps us all on our toes and loves that we can play outside. She loves wearing her Steeler shirt on Sundays. She continues to talk up a storm and eats most things we give her. I love my little sister. This month she also will have her semiannual ophthalmologist appointment and annual check with her surgeon for her eye, so we will keep you posted on that.

I hope you have a happy month! We are packing it in as always this month. Mommy and  Daddy have to go on a trip to Chicago, so we get to stay at Camp Grandma! Of course my sister’s birthday is in a few weeks and Grandpap’s is too, Daddy’s election (and birthday!) are on November 2 and Mommy’s birthday is November 5. Sounds like lots of good parties and CAKE are in my future …

Happy Fall Y’all!

Sean
