Today I am 51-months old

Poster’s note: Once again, I (Dad) is behind in getting this on line.

Snowperson Happy March! What a fun, winter-filled month we have had! Most exciting was a couple of days of snow, and I mean real snow. Even Daddy said it was real and he is from New York! We got 12 inches over the course of two days. It was so fun to go outside and play. We made a snowperson, threw snowballs and went to our local park to play. Unfortunately, the snow did not last long and was gone in a couple of days. Mommy took lots of pictures (surprise!), if you feel like checking out the whole lot of them: http://picasaweb.google.com/christine.kless/WinterBlizzard2K10?feat=email#. Below is a video, you might notice that Cara does not like the snow at all.

Valentine’s weekend was pretty fun. Mommy and Daddy went to the NBA All-Star game and Cara and I spent the evening with my cousins Abbie and Emily! I always like spending time with them. And then there was the Olympics. To say I was “into it” might be an understatement. I have come to love all sports, especially hockey. I liked seeing all the different countries’ flags and I generally rooted for the countries that had the most blue in their flag (blue is my favorite color, next is green). Of course I always cheered for the USA. Many thanks to our friend Wendy who lives in Vancouver and sent us all Olympic gear! In honor of my new hockey fascination, Mommy took me ice skating. I am not sure what she was complaining about – something like “40 pounds of dead weight” and “muscles hurting” … I had fun nonetheless. We are thinking about skating lessons, but I may want to wait until I am older, like 5 or 6. I went to two more Allen American hockey games (local minor league team). At the last one, a puck flew through the air and guess what?! My grandma caught it! It was so cool.

Cara visits Sean at preschool Pre-school is going well. We had our open house performance a couple weeks ago. I sang in front of everyone. We also had a pancake lunch that Mommy and Cara came to. Cara just sat right down on the chair and wanted to eat like a big kid. She’ll start pre-school in the fall. We took a fun adventure on the DART train a couple weeks ago with our playgroup. As you can imagine, I really enjoyed the train. We went downtown and ate lunch and then road back. There was a brief panic when my friend Abby and I got on the train and Mommy was helping her friend Jessica get the double stroller up and in the train (stroller had Cara and Jake in it) and the doors closed! Mommy threw herself between the doors and thankfully they opened. I also attended a 3-D Juggling Show with Grandma, Abbie and Mommy. That was pretty fun too. We have had a lot of wet weather here in Texas so we haven’t gotten to play outside too much, which makes me a little sad. I do love playing all my sports. Daddy and Mommy had a work trip last week so Cara and I got to spend a couple days together at Camp Grandma! I loved having Cara in the same room as me.

I am really into letters right now. I want to know how everything is spelled. I love working on my writing too. I get to pick words to add to my writing sheet. So far I have picked “bag, restaurant, hockey and entrepreneur.” I love to figure out words that rhyme (thank you Dr. Seuss!) and every night I insist on reading my books. Grandma has signed me up for another tee ball session and I am really enjoying my Kindermusic class. There has even been “homework.” This past weekend, Daddy and I made a boat. Daddy said that since we used duct tape on it that everyone will know that a Daddy helped him! Daddy also helped me make a two-sided guitar.

Valentines Day Cara is doing well. She is finally getting a few more teeth. She has eight now and four more are working their way in. She got a good report at her eye checkup this past week. Cara is saying all sorts of words. She will try to repeat just about anything we say to her. She is matching shapes and colors and understands just about everything you tell her. I think she likes letters as much as I do. I swear she is sounding words out too! She likes to color and only sometimes chews on the crayons. Cara really loves being outside and loves the slide at the park. She knows how to scoot herself to go down the slide.

We hope you have a terrific St. Patrick’s Day and Easter!

Love, Sean

I am 50-months old today!

Poster’s note: I am way behind on this. The post was written (by Mom) on time.

at the park Another month has flown by here at the Kless house. The weather has been particularly gloomy and wet. However, Mommy is much relieved that it is not that four-letter word (snow!). We did manage to get one park visit in and I had so much fun playing with Cara. We liked to go down the slide together. I have been occupying myself quite a bit with sports. I have enjoyed the football season and was sad to see it end Sunday night. I picked the Colts to win, so it was a little disappointing.

hockey sean However, I have found a new sport! Hockey! Grandma took me to an Allen Americans’ game. They are the local minor league hockey team. I loved it! I could not believe that those guys were skating and playing a sport. Of course, since it was Grandma who took me, I now have an Americans’ shirt and hockey stick! I started a new tee ball class where I use a real bat and Grandma is taking me to Kindermusic! I have enjoyed both. Last weekend, Grandma and Grandpap took me to a high school basketball game, which was lots of fun. Especially that they had M&Ms at the concession stand AND that I was able to ask nicely for Grandpap to buy me a bag.

I recently went to the airplane museum where I had my third birthday. It was fun to re-visit all the airplanes. Speaking of birthdays, a few weeks ago, I attended a really cool firefighter birthday party at a real fire house! That was a lot of fun. Mommy and I have been doing some Valentine’s day crafts. We made a wreath of hearts and then at the Lego store we found a heart that we could build from Legos. I also made Valentines for all my school friends and wrote my name on each one.

uncle mike Last week my Uncle Mike came up for a doctor appointment. We got to go meet him for lunch at one of my favorites – Pei Wei. I love my Uncle Mike and it was fun seeing him. He is running the Austin Marathon this weekend, and it will be the first one I have ever missed. Daddy has a candidate forum for his Texas State Senate campaign on Saturday. pancakes with emily My cousin Emily came and spent a Saturday morning with us a couple weeks ago. We made heart pancakes and played. I love playing with my cousins, so does Cara.

The one bad part of the last few weeks was that everyone got really sick. There was some awful stomach flu going around. No fun. Then last week, I woke up in so much pain that Daddy had to take me to the ER. Turns out I had an ear infection, which I had never had before. I think we are all on the mend now!

Cara is doing great. She is walking/climbing everywhere! She says a lot of words too. She is learning all the animals sounds, so when we ask her what a sheep says, she says, “baa.” It is so cute. She loves puzzles and matching things together. And she still loves her food. Cara has her own set of friends who she sees each week at Gymboree and for lunch. Last night, me and Mommy were singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Mommy said, “get your twinklers out.” And Cara put up her hands and made the “twinkle” motion! Then, when we sang “Up above the sky … “ She threw her hands up in the air. She is such a clever little girl.

I hope you all have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

xoxo, Sean
